We do a lot of our own printing, on recycled paper and reusing paper (i.e., printing on the back of stuff) for small batch printing. For large batches, such as the mailer we’re about to send for our Fall Membership Drive, we have chosen a local printer with a mission other than simply to make a profit. Jessica Hibbard, of Stories and Ideas, clued us in on the Scott Key Center. Using them as our official printer is consistent with our values of community and sustainability.
From their website, “We provide creative and meaningful employment for adults with developmental disabilities within Frederick County. Scott Key Center is licensed through the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) and is licensed to provide Day Habilitation, Vocational Services, Supported Employment, and Family Individual Support Services. […] The individuals we serve are at the center of all our work. We bring families, friends, and professionals together on their behalf. Our work is to help an individual progress toward maximum independence and community inclusion. Our goal is to support individuals in developing the functional autonomy required to be successful in their community of choice.”
