Cowork Frederick has teamed up with a couple of local guys, Adam Silcott and Greg Lord, offer monthly events that focus on creativity, coding, collaboration.
Game Jams are a great way to come together with others from many backgrounds and with many skills to create computer games. You don’t have to know how to write code. Some people create sound effects; some create graphics, some work on plot, some on language, and some, some code. If you want to learn some programming skills, this is great way to do it, but it’s not required.
The first of these events was the Global Game Jam held in February. There was another just a few weeks ago. More importantly, the next “jam” will be April 26-28 – an around-the-clock space for anyone who wants to work on new or existing projects in a supportive and collaborative environment.
That’s also the weeked of the 44th Ludum Dare Game Jam. The event will kick off at 7PM Friday evening, in time for the theme announcement at 9PM, and will be open for most of the weekend for anyone who decides to work on a entry for one of the oldest and most well known Game Jams.
