John Limpert is a Full-Stack Engineer at Relevant EquityWorks. His company creates and manages custom software for all types of private equity. In his role, he builds websites and mobile apps and then connects them to various servers.
John has been fascinated with tech since childhood, so software development was a natural progression. So he studied computer science at the United States Airforce Academy. John enjoys working for Relevant EquityWorks because it allows him the freedom to try out new tech and work in a very challenging sector.
Extracurriculars
Outside of work, John spends a lot of time with his family. His children are 4 and 2. With two little ones at home, there is always something going on. Besides family life, he plays pickup frisbee with Frederick Area Ultimate (FAU) and homebrew with Frederick Original Ale Makers (FOAM).
Why we love John
John joined the Cowork Frederick family in November 2022. From the beginning, John has been kind and friendly to everyone he meets. He shows a true interest in others by approaching conversations with attentiveness and curiosity. Even though he hasn’t been a member for long, he’s already become an essential part of our community.
Q&A with John Limpert
What inspires you and keeps you going?
Work-wise, I enjoy it. I like the challenge of tech, and I get along with my coworkers and colleagues. It also helps that my work has enabled us to move to a better place and given us a lot of flexibility with our time.
Cowork Frederick members tend to be a little unconventional. How does that apply to you?
I value time and flexibility. My wife and I have made many life choices to help us achieve that goal. We’ve invested in real estate to support our monthly cash flow. I also pushed my current company to let me work remotely 100% of the time. My employer is based in Boston and said I could move out of state if I wanted. In fact, that’s why I am here.
Which of the guiding values defined by Cowork Frederick members speaks to you?
Curiosity. In work and life, curiosity is essential. You fall behind if you aren’t constantly exploring and keeping an open mind. In my field, new things pop up all the time. It’s vital to keep up with emerging technology and trends. I also try to teach my kids to stay curious.
Any tips for working in technology?
Always deploy software on weekdays. If you deploy the software before a weekend or holiday, you will spend all of your vacation time fixing it.
Why Cowork Frederick?
I enjoy working remotely because it’s fun and gives me a lot of flexibility. However, I wasn’t seeing actual people during my day. Cowork was perfect because I could come and go as I pleased, get some social interactions and get involved in the community.
