Q&A with Ainsley
What inspires you and keeps you going?
My motivation is to carve out a path for myself that supports my daughter and her needs but also brings me joy and fulfillment.
Cowork Frederick members tend to be a little unconventional. How does that apply to you?
After constantly trying to grind and advance my career in the corporate world, I got tired and decided I didn’t want to do that anymore. COVID was a blessing because it gave me much more time with my daughter. Work is essential to me, and I always strive to do my best, but having a work/life balance is my focus at this point in my life.
I also try to stick to work that makes me feel good and helps others. Whether providing educational opportunities/engaging programming, helping someone buy their first home, or helping someone realize their athletic abilities… it makes me feel good and like I am making a difference.
Which of the guiding values defined by Cowork Frederick members speaks to you?
Tenacity is actually the word I have chosen as my mantra or guiding principle for 2023. Becoming a long-distance runner has shown me that humans can do much more than we believe. You can find so much joy and a sense of accomplishment when you put yourself out there and refuse to back down. For me, that is really compelling. I think I’ve been pretty tenacious in my running life, and I am looking forward to challenging myself to apply this principle for the rest of my life.
Any tips for time management?
Creating a schedule and sticking to it has impacted my businesses and work the most in the past year. I used to struggle to get things done because I didn’t manage my time well, and I have a lot of responsibilities on my plate. Creating a schedule has helped me significantly improve my productivity. Now I can manage all my paid and volunteer work and training program and still have plenty of time for quality time with my daughter.
Why Cowork Frederick?
I love being surrounded by people who want to be where they are. There is a lot of good energy in the Cowork Frederick building, and it inspires me to work harder than I would if I was alone in my home office.
