Last summer, as volunteers wrapped up efforts to clear the jungle in Kimba’s back yard, someone said something like, “When are we going to finish the job?” Silly me, I thought clearing the weeds was finishing, but clearly others wanted to do more. And so it was that “Phase 2” was born.
For those who need catching up, here’s the backstory. You wouldn’t know it by seeing her now, but a year ago Kimba was going through some really rough times and needed help. Coworkers got together and cleared 1280 pounds of weeds from her yard. It was an amazing day. Then, with the idea for Phase 2 planted (pun intended), we got to work. We raised $235 and paid for border that Kimba picked out and installed herself. Barrick Garden Center donated and delivered 5 yards of mulch. Now it’s time to plant and spread mulch.
