Ever wonder what it takes to get a story in Frederick Gorilla? Who those people are, listed on the masthead? How can you speak your truth in the magazine?
The Frederick Gorilla invited folks to go “Behind the Cover” with them to find out. The staff of The Frederick Gorilla held the event at Cowork Frederick on Thursday, December 13 from 6 to 8 pm and, oh, what an event it was!
A record-turnout of people filled our Community Room and the buzz of brainy, creative, discussion and, in some cases, debate was truly energizing. As seems to always be the case at such events, we saw a few Cowork Frederick members in the room. We met Matt Livelsberger, one of the publishers and engaged in a healthy discussion about the trend toward collaborative workspaces as he toured the building. We met writers and editors and even the daughter of the woman featured on the current Frederick Gorilla cover (who was quite proud of her mother, understandably!) The best part, though, was winding our way through the crowded space and hearing all the interesting conversations.
The crowd spilled out into the rest of the building as conversation continued over wine, beer, and tasty snacks. Toward the end of the evening, there was a drawing for (many) prizes which included, Gorilla T-shirts, local business gift cards, of course, Day Passes to Cowork Frederick! Even Toys for Tots scored that night. Hearing that we had a box in our entryway, one guest arrived with a donation of toys.
