As part of our Charity of the Month program, Cowork Frederick members donated 2 large bags and 1 box of men’s clothing (an estimated 100 clothing items) to the Seton Center in Emmitsburg. Donations included coats and warm clothing, especially needed as cold winter approaches.
The Seton Center has been in continuous operation as a social service organization in our local communities since 1969. Their programs and services fill unmet needs that county and local governments, schools and other non-profits do not provide.
Member Kathleen Hickey proposed the charity and the men’s clothing drive for the month of December, noting the fact that most organizations receive far more donations of women’s clothing than men’s. Matt Johnston, seconded the motion, saying it was perfect for the month with Boxing Day. Kathleen organized and managed the drive, which ended December 29, and then took the plentiful donations to the Seton Center.
