Thanks to input from YOU, we are creating a way to help Cowork Frederick members who are freelancers, moonlighters, side-giggers (etc.) get work — and a way for those who need help with a work project tap into the great talent we have here at Cowork Frederick.
Several of you have asked for this over the years. More recently, Peter Koeppen suggested and then worked with Julia to define how it would work. Information follows. Read on and if you are are interested in getting work this way, send Julia a Slack message with two pieces of information:
- The skill(s) that should be listed for you
- The minimum price you’d charge to make it worth your while to take on some work.
Cowork Frederick Works
Coming soon (probably February), there will be a new menu item on our public website (https://coworkfrederick.com) for “Cowork Frederick Works”. On the page will be an explanation of how Cowork Frederick Works … well … works and a form to fill out.
Someone looking for 1099-type contract work will fill out the form with basic contact information and a bit about the work he/she is looking for. In its current state, the form requests this information:
- Name
- Company/Organization
- Website
- Email Address
- Phone
- Areas of Expertise Sought (Legal, Content Creation, Social Media, Video Production, etc.)
- Budget Range ($1000 – $1999, $2000 – $4999, $5000+, or “let’s talk”)
- (optional) Additional Information
Appropriate legal disclaimers will be added once we’ve worked them out. Cowork Frederick is not an agent; we are merely providing a way to post requests. We do not represent any other party in any transaction that results. We don’t guarantee/warranty any work, and so on.
When a form is submitted, the information will be posted to a #work Slack channel and also to a page on this Member Dashboard. Interested Cowork Frederick members can, of course, set up Slack to notify them of posts to the channel or can just periodically check the channel and/or the dashboard.
Notice we’re not listing member names or businesses on the form. That’s intentional. We don’t want this to be just a directory of member contact information. This is about empowering YOU more than the requester. People will have to provide some information about the work so YOU can decide if you are interested. In some cases, multiple skills may be needed. By collecting this information up front, YOU have the opportunity to reach out to each other to form the appropriate team and then contact the requester.
Here’s what we need from you: If you are are interested in getting work this way, send Julia a Slack message with two pieces of information:

- The minimum price you’d charge to make it worth your while to take on some work.
