Spring is here and that means Bike To Work Day is quickly approaching. This is a national thing, and Frederick has been participating for quite a few years. Cowork Frederick has been a part of it since we opened.
Here’s how the fun happens in Frederick
Lots of people, including the Mayor, Aldermen and a group from Fort Detrick, meet at Hood College at 6:30am. I know; it’s early, but there’s a nice crowd and a chance to say hi to people you haven’t seen in a while. After a quick welcome and safety tips (the police provide an escort and block traffic at the intersections so we can stay together as a big group) we take off and use the road and bike paths to get to City Hall. There’s a quick stop there to pick up folks that slept in and didn’t make the 6:30 start. Then we’re off to the Transit Center on East Street where coffee, donuts await.
You’ll get a ticket for the raffle drawings, so be sure to fill out the ticket and drop it in the bowl. Tom Rinker of The Bicycle Escape gives away a bicycle every year, so don’t miss your chance.
How To Register
General info about the event is here: www.biketoworkmetrodc.org/ When you register, be sure to pick Frederick as your pit stop. Also, please list Cowork Frederick as your employer. There’s an annual drawing for a business to win a bike rack and we’d really like to win one of these years.
