150th Milk Can Celebration

Wonder why we have a painted milk can displayed in our front window?

Consistent with our goal of supporting local creativity and the broader Frederick community, we're participating in the 150th Milk Can Celebration. The purpose of the celebration is to work with Frederick County high school and college art classes, and local artisans, creating an awareness of the fair’s longevity in the community, and to to increase funding for The Great Frederick Fair (collected by securing sponsors and the sale of the cans).

Participating artists were asked to decorate a milk can using the theme "The Great Frederick Fair – 150th Celebration." Artists had about three months to plan and prepare cans. Photos of each can were taken and placed on the fair’s Facebook page for voting between September 1-15. The top three milk cans receiving the most votes through September 15 will be awarded prizes on Sunday, September 16. The cans will be auctioned off to the highest bidder that same day. A prize will be awarded to the top three artists whose milk cans are deemed the best by Facebook Fans of The Great Frederick Fair.
